Q: Is it possible to put a 472 Cadillac engine into a 1967 chevelle without changing anything?
Will the bell housing and motor mounts line up?

A: you would have to weld in new motor mounts, use a BOC ( buick, olds, pontiac ) transmission and your driveshaft would have to be replaced with a custom made one, your chevy tranny won’t work behind a caddy engine.

Q: How do i change a rear axel bearing on a 1967 Chevelle?

A: I would purchase the OEM Overhaul Manual and the Shop Manual. I believe the Overhaul Manual has the whole procedure and pictures also.

It is not a difficult task. This rear axle is what GM calls a 12-Bolt most likely. The bearings are pressed into the housing and the axle rides in the bearing. There is a “C” retainer that holds the axle from sliding out of the housing. A single bolt holds the spider gear shaft and when that bolt is removed, the axle can be nudged inward and the clip can be removed. Check the condition of the axle where the axle rides the roller bearings. If it is bad, you may be able to find a repair kit that consists of a sleeve that is pressed on the axle and a different bearing that has a small ID.

1. Jack up car and place on Jack Stands
2. Remove Rear Cover to drain and replace gear oil
2. Remove Wheel
3. Remove Brake Drum
4. Remove Spider Gear Shaft Retaining Bolt
5. Remove Spider Gear Shaft
6. Remove “C” Clips (One each axle)
6. Slid out Axle
7. Extract old bearing from housing
8. Press in bearing
9. Reassemble remainder

Remember to plan for New Gaskets, Seal and Gear Oil.

Q: Why don’t my brake lights tail lights and turn signals work on my 1967 Chevelle?
I’ve changed the turn signal switch, brake light switch and followed all of the wires and everything seems connected. I also checked all of the grounds and they all look good. My guage clusters work and all so does the dome light, I can’t figure this out any suggestions would help thanks

A: Check all of the fuses on the fuse panel under the dash, not just the ones for the lights.

Q: I have a 1967 Chevelle and the blinkers 1/2 work. When I try to use it they stay lit, they don’t blink. Why?
Also the hazards work fine.

A: did you change the flasher ? you have 2 of them. 1 for the turn signals and 1 for the emergency flashers.

A: the chevelle is well under the 20′ garage size. (if you have a standard garage) i believe the car is 15′4″ but not 100% on that . i bet im real close .. never had to measure mine.

Q: i just bought a 1967 chevelle with a big h.p. 396. do i need to add lead to the pump gas. ?
it’s the original motor with a lot of gizmos on it. do i need to be aware of any other things to keep it running?

A: Simply drop a few small Chinese toys into the gas tank. That should be enough lead for at least 3000 miles. (jk)

Back in the 60’s, a friend of mine had a 1967 SS396 Chevy Chevelle Malibu; the car was vibrant sky blue with a black vinyl top. Can anyone inform me of the exact name of the color of blue it was; I saw other GM cars back then that were painted with this color so I take it that it was a stock color. Thank you for any response.

A: it is definately the Marina Blue poly #2, the Nantucket is a light blueish silver. I have an original book with paint chips of all the colors available. Buick called it Blue Mist, Olds Bimini Blue and Pontiac called it Tyrol Blue. Very nice color!
