Q: How can i run my 68 camaro without its as tank?
i had to take the tank off because it rusted inside, how can i start up my car now without a tank, not to drive just to start it?, is it possible that i an just put the tube that went into the tank in a bucket of gas?

A: A gallon can of gas on the floor & a hose from the fuel pump to the can, but I think the bucket is a bit too risky…

Q: What is everything I need to get to bolt on a Complete MSD ignition system on my 350 SB 68 camaro?
which control box? distrubutor? what am i missing to make the ignition system complete?

A: MSD sells complete kits, everything included right down to the hardware. Which components depends on how much you are willing to spend, the application, and what exactly you want. MSD makes distributors that range from $225 up to $370, depends on whether you want points, dual points, or an upgrade to HEI, mechanical or vacuum advance, etc. A good set of plug wires is a must, I suggest nothing smaller than 8mm. MSD ignition boxes range from $105 – $450, again depending on the application. Don’t go cheap on the plugs, Autolite Platinum fire much better than your average Champion plug, Accel plugs are real good (I use them in my ‘79 Camaro) Splitfire claim to be the best, I’ve never used them, can’t seem to justify $6 per plug.
Don’t limit yourself to MSD, shop around, Accel and Mallory also make excellent components. If you want the MSD, I recommend the MSD-85551 distributor (mechanical advance) or the MSD-8361 distributor (vacuum advance) coupled with the MSD-6420 ignition box, (the MSD 6AL with soft touch rev control) MSD-8202 MSD Blaster 2 coil, MSD-31193 (black plug wires) or MSD-31199 (red plug wires) and your choice of plugs.
My PERSONAL recommendation is the Mallory MAL-4748201 electronic distributor with vacuum advance, MSD 6AL ignition box, Accel ACC-8140 superstock coil and Accel 300+ 8.8mm wires, part# ACC-7030, and either Accel plugs, AC Delco platinum, or Autolite Platinum.

Q: How Can I adjust my 68 camaro rear passenger side window because it does not align at the top?
I believe it is off track and slipping

A: yes it is adjustable take off your interior trim panel there are a lot of adjusting points inside there i dont know which one will adjust the alignment at thetop but just try one at a time good luck

Q: hi i want to rebuild my 68 camaro 327 engine were do i start and how do i go to for the best parts?

A: Awesome car. Go to www.hemmings.com Best place on the planet for old car stuff.

Q: How can i make my 68 camaro sound louder?
its a straight six motor ,everything stock, the original exhaust is on, only 20,000 mils so it runs really good, would removing the muffler be a good idea, or should i go get a custom made exhaust

A: take off cataletic converters put glass packs insted of muffelers

Q: Where can I buy wide tires for my 68 Camaro?
I like the dr19 17″ in black and need the 5 bolt pattern but I need a really wide rim I have a mini tub kit installed
Does anyone know a site with wide wheels? or those specific wheels?

A: Mikey Thomsom tires.

Q: I’m looking at a 68 camaro for $5,700 the seller wants to use yahoo finance, too good to be true?
The agreement he sent me from Yahoo finance says I will have 3 days to inspect it. If I accept I send the money to the Yahoo finance account.

A: Unless its in boxes and wrecked a 68 Camaro would cost way more than $5,700.

Q: 68 Camaro! Know faults with putting the EL. cooling fan and shroud Outside the engine bay?
my 68 camaro because of upgrades wont fit the aftermarket shroud and fan, so as to PULL the air thru the radiator and into the engine compartment.

I can only put it (fan and shroud) in front of the radiator so, to push the air into it.

A: “Puller” and “Pusher” fans are different. You can buy a Pusher fan made by Hayden at pep boys that flows pretty well. If you can afford it, id call www.fletcherscustoms.com and get an autorad setup.

A puller fan will always outperform a comparable pusher.

Q: How can I tell if my 68′ Camaro is a RS/SS or just a regular SS?
The only #s I have is the VIN. No engine or trans. I dont know if its a RS, a SS, or a RS/SS. Is there anyway to tell? If so how? Someone please help.

A: On 67 and 69 camaros the trim tag will tell you what options your car had. Unfortunately the 68 does not (the VIN doesnt either). You can have either an RS/ an SS or an RS/SS. The RS is an appearance package(Hideaway headlights) . The SS is a performance package (HP motor, 12 bolt rear, suspension upgrade, etc…)

Go to this website and you will find all you need to know-

http://www.camaros.net/forums/

Q: How do you tell the difference between a RS/SS and just a RS or SS 68′ Camaro without having the #s?

A: If you dont have the VIN numbers then you need to try to find the badges or the numbers off the trans, engine or interior and rear end. If it was an SS it should have a 12 bolt rear end and there are numbers stamped on the top of it. All of these will tell you the car and what kind of car it went too.

Q: My 68 camaro RS, tail light is out, but bulb is good. What do I need to use to fix this problem?
They said something about wiring being bad or something, SO do I just need a wiring harness kit and nothing else?

A: Turn your tail lights on and chase it with a test probe. See where your power goes off. Start at the chassis harness on the firewall and see if you have power there. Then work you way down. Its cheaper then a wiring harness. Time is Free, parts cost money.

Look into the ground also for the tail

Q: how much money would a 68 camaro set me back on gas?
This is going to be my first car and it will only be drivin around town maybe 10 miles driving a day
its a 6 cylinder
its a 8 cylinder

A: It probably has a 327 or 350 v8 in it and 10mpg sounds about right for a engine that size. So I’d say 2gal a day including warmups. If you hotrod it expect that number to go up – way up. And I’ll bet you can’t resist the temptation to do so.

Q: How much would a ‘68 Camaro SS 396 in good condition cost me ?

A: $30,000 or more.

Q: Where can i buy exhaust for a 68 camaro?
somewhere around Macomb, MI and its for a V6, and it needs to be only one exhaust, rear exit

A: Just take the car to a muffler shop. They can replace all the exhaust from manifolds back. You can pick whatever muffler that you want. It will be just as good if not better than any mail order kit that you can buy and cost a lot less.

Q: hi i just bought a 68 camaro for 1600 and it has a 327 with 275hp how do i get the miles off the engine?
do i have to rebuild witch i have to do anyway.thanks

A: GET ACOMPLETE OVERHAUL KIT, FROM HAINES,OR W C WHITNEY, OR HEMMINGS, AND TAKE YOUR TIME, AND DO IT COMPLETILY, AND YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU TOOK YOUR TIME, BUT…..GET THE KIT FIRST.
