Q: I own a Honda Civic 2006 EX. I am planning to buy a Honda Accessory called “Wheel Locks”.Is it good to buy?
I own a Honda Civic 2006 EX. I am planning to buy a Honda Accessory called “Wheel Locks”.Is it good to buy? Can anyone tell me how to install this?

Thanks,
Makesh

A: It’s an accessory that is used to prevent wheel theft. “Is it a good buy?” They cost $30-$50, so it’s not a huge investment. If you feel that you park your car in unsafe neighborhoods and think the vehicle’s wheels are suject to being stolen, then yes, this will act as a preventative security measure.

To install, take off the exisitng lug nuts and put one wheel lock on each wheel in its place. And make sure you know where you keep the key to be sure you can get the wheel off if necessary!

Q: What car (with the same price range) is better than a Honda Civic?
I am planning on buying a Honda Civic. I am 21 years old, and I like the civic because it looks nice, reliable, and its good on gas. I will also be driving a lot. Is there another car that is just as great, for the same price range, like a Mini cooper (or is that too much and can break down easily)?

I also want a car that doesn’t cost a fortune to repair (like what I have heard about Volkswagons)

A: Mazda 3 is the way to go if you are looking for an alternative to the Civic. It is actually a little cheaper when comparably equipped ($1,000-$1200).
In the US, the new Saturn Astra is also worth a look. It will probably be a tad less to insure.

Q: How Much To Replace CV boot on Honda Civic?
My front, passenger side CV boot has split, I already have the replacement part. What is the most that I should expect to pay to have it replaced? My car is a 1995 Honda Civic Coupe 1.5lsi. Thanx!

A: It does not pay to buy just the CV joint boot and replace it. R&R the axle takes 1.0 hours labor and to replace the boot and inspect and repack the CV joint is another 1.0 hours labor. I advise all my customers to just drive the car until the joint goes bad and then buy a rebuilt axle from Advance auto for $100 or less and just pop the complete axle in. $200 parts and labor maximum.

Q: What is the lifespan of a 2002 Honda Civic EX?
What is the lifespan of a 2002 Honda Civic EX (Si model in Canada) if well maintained, following the factory recommended maintenance schedule? I am currently driving it with 175,000 km and would like to know how much longer can it run for? Thanks.

A: Yeah, 300,000 is a good bet. Don’t count on getting there without a few minor and maybe a moderate problem, but with the proper maintenance it should prove to be a dependable car through 300,000

Q: What are some things to look for before buying a honda civic between the years 1994 and 1999?
Like if you can please be specific such as were to look in the engine and the enterior such as body and inside and also what is a good milage for a honda civic between 1994 and 1999 that is decent enough to buy? Thanks!

A: rust around the rear fenders is the biggest issue with those cars.also just make sure if its a standard the tires are good and the clutch feels good just because its a good indication of it the cars been beat by some previous owners.

Q: How to install an underbody neon kit for a 1997 honda civic?
I have a 1997 honda civic ex Coupe and would like to know some instructions on how to install them.

A: To be honest, if you need instructions on how to do it you really shouldn’t be attempting it.

However, if you have your heart set on doing it yourself I won’t discourage you. Everyone’s gotta start somewhere right? =]

Firstly, it depends how you want them wired; on all the time, on with a switch, on with the headlights, on with the handbrake etc.

Firstly you need to find a mounting point that doesn’t inhibit any mechanical parts of the car. Don’t ask me where I read this, but I remember somewhere that it’s illegal for the actual light bar to be showing (depending on where you live the whole setup may be illegal, at the very least it will make you very attractive to police).

Then find a spot to run the wires where they won’t get in the way of anything and also won’t hang down. You’ll then need to splice off a wire that has constant power and find a ground that turns on and off with (whatever you want the lights turned on and off with).

Hey presto you’re all done! Make sure all wires are ziptied up and don’t get in the way of anything or the driver’s feet.

Q: How long to replace door speakers 2006 honda civic?
How long would it take to replace the front door speakers in a 2006 honda civic lx?
I have the speakers and needed components.

A: If you know how to remove the inside door panels you can have them both replaced in about 45 minutes to an hour with reassembly. Once the panel is removed remove the screw, lift the speaker up to release the lower clips and unhook the wire connector.

Q: How much would it cost to fix a blown head gasket on a Honda Civic?
Im interested in a 1993 Honda Civic for $2000.00. Good shape except for a blown head gasket, is it worth fixing, or should i just keep looking?

A: A blown head gasket is going to cost you that much to get fixed by a repair shop, give or take a few hundred $$$. I wouldn’t pay anymore than $500.00 for it. If you do it yourself… $500-800 in parts and machine work. You will need too have the heads resurface and tested for cracks at a machine shop/possibly replaced if they are cracked. That might be a little on the low end though, because we get discounted parts. About a week long project for a shop. Maybe longer for you. The choice is yours, How mechanically inclined are you and do you have the time to devote to it?

Q: How much would it cost to remove rust from a Honda civic?
Hey i was wondering how much would it cost to get rust removed from both quarter panels on a 94 Honda civic hatchback. No bondo i want a professional job done. Can anyone give me an idea of how much i would have to pay?

A: To be honest, I don’t anyone can give you a good estimate, as the cost of material and labor greatly varies by location. So, you really need to call some auto body specialists around in your area and ask for free estimates in order to avoid getting ripped off.

Better yet, I recall plusrecipes.com having a small auto section where they offer great deals, like free estimates from local auto specialists in your area, whom I would think would know the cost of their professionally removing your car’s rust–heck right now one ad-link says you could save like 50% through what I read as competitive bidding or something like that–here’s the link:

Yeah, so call around or use the above link. I hope this is helpful. Good luck!

Q: What would be the best engine for a tuned out honda civic?
I have a honda civic 2000 (coupe) and i am planning on making it a street racing car. I haven’t worked with civics in the past and was wondering if anyone had experience working with them.
Which engine works best when upgraded with a turbo, air intake, performance exhaust, etc.
The b18c or k20a? Or is there another i should be aware of?

thanks

A: H22a are also great engines but they are better for N/A builds, seeing as they are open deck and a bitch to turbo. i would say either one of the b18c or k20a are great choices. h22a, b18c, and k20a are by far the best engines honda has ever made (with the exception of the engine in the NSX, which i believe is the c32…? correct me if im wrong)

Q: What is the STRONGEST Engine for a HONDA CIVIC?
i have a 1999 Honda Civic and wondered what is the strongest engine i can get to boost performance. Plus what little installments can i make that’ll boost performance. thanks
what about the b16 engines?

A: the best engine for a civic will be a k20a (type-r jdm) boasting about 220 hp, however this engine is very expensive and will most likely require a professional installation, all in all this swap will run you around $8,000, you could do any other k20 swap as well but the type-r is obviously best. Next in line would be a b18c vtec, the type-r will cost only a little less than the k20a but install is much easier, if you went with a b18 you’d be best off with a gsr swap, it puts out good numbers and will save a lot of cash vs type-r. There are also the lsvtec ( b18b with b16 head ) and crvtec ( crv b20 and b16 head ) options but you will lose reliability. H22 is a good powerhouse but this is also a tough install and that engine is flat out heavy, your car will push like crazy and if you want all around performance (handling, braking, and acceleration) you might regret puting this giant under the hood… and you will need to stiffen the suspension before you drive the car with the h22. B16’s are good very reliable engines and in my opinion they are the best bang for the buck, you could complete a b16 swap for less than $2,000 with a little shopping around. I currently have a first generation b16a with only intake, header and exhaust in my 88 4dr and can tell you it is fast enough to beat early 2000 model mustang gt’s.
As far as boosting performance other than an engine swap… intake, header, exhaust, high flow cat, light weight flywheel, clutch, pullies, carbon fiber parts, light weight wheels, camshaft, valves… the list goes on and on. Easiest thing would be intake, header, exhaust, cat, ecu chip, bypass power steering, bypass air conditioning during the cold season, free weight reductions, and stay away from large rims ( they are heavy unless you buy light weight ones). there is a ton of information out there and a ton of upgrades and swap options, hondas are like legos, you can swap out just about anything.

Q: How much would it cost to replace breaks for 2007 Honda Civic?
I have a 2007 Honda Civic Sedan, and my breaks are already making noises…

How much would the breaks cost me.
How much would it cost me to take it to a shop?

I need to know the cost of the parts + labor separately .

Thank you.

A: A straight forward “pad slap” where all the mechanic does is throw in new pads should cost about an hour labor ($65-80) and the pads should cost between $35-50 if the mechanic is not doubling his net cost.

Q: How much could I ask for when selling a 1989 honda civic hatchback?
I have a 1989 Honda Civic Hatchback that I want to sell that has a few problems with it.. It has a major oil leak, and the emergency break doesnt work. Everyone tells me I could get a good amount of money for this car and was wondering if anyone had some good ideas on how much money I could ask for this car

A: i’d be upfront about the issues…
i bought a 1998 honda accord for 8k. it was in great condition, no issues, about 100k miles. cheapest thing on the lot too, i’m sure.
for that car, i’d probably want to pay 1 or 2k. i imagine a dealership would charge more. how many miles are on it? that makes a difference as well. the best thing about it is it’s a honda, and they last forever.

Q: How much does a transmission fluid flush cost for a honda civic?
2005 honda civic lX,is it better to get it done with a dealer?
any place you suggest in Northern Virginia?

A: Why not call around to your local quick oil change facilities and go with the cheapest estimate?

Most tranny flushes will run from $50 to $100 depending on the vehicle.

Q: How do I replace my stock headlights and tail lights on my 2001 honda civic ex coupe?
So yeah…I have a 2001 honda civic coupe and I just got new projector halo head lights and tail lights.
A) What do I need to know about head lights and tail lights before I start?
B) How is it done?

A: Best thing to do is get a repair manual for your car if you plan on working on it. Its the best and quickest way to learn the in and outs of your car. Removing your headlights should be covered in there.
