Q: Is the 302 motor in a 79 thunderbird the same as the ones put in the foxbody mustangs?
I have a 79 ford Thunderbird with a stock 302 iam wondering if it is the same 302 put in the foxbody mustangs or if it is diffrent and does anyone know if the 79 had a locking rear end or if it was just a one legger?

A: No, it’s a different motor. The block is similar, in that it will swap, but the internals are different.

The fox mustang started in 79 and went to 93, but the motor underwent a couple changes, most notably was the addition of roller lifters vs the older-style flat-tappet lifters.

It used a flat-tapped cam setup to 84 and was swapped to roller in 85, which had some block valley changes, taller lifter bosses for the roller lifters, and tapped to support the spider retention system for the lifter retainers.

Other than that, the blocks are the same, you can take that 302 and put it in a fox mustang, it just won’t run exactly the same, and shouldn’t be advertised as the 5.0 H.O.

As far as the differential, it probably depends on the car, but I would assume you’d have the dreaded one wheel peel action.

Q: How many two seat P45 Mustangs and Spitfires are still operating these days.?
I know of one Mustang near Birmingham UK and one Spitfire in UK any others besides lots of T6 Harvards.
Sorry I did mean P51 Mustangs.

A: as far as i know there is one, two seat spitfire around in the UK (owned and run by a lady called Carolyn Grace) as for mustangs havent a clue i’m afraid

Q: Do Mustangs have the push start as stock?
I found these two videos of Mustang GT’s and V6’s with push starts kind of like the Viper. They are located on the top center of the front console, just above the stereo. I don’t know if they come as an option or if it’s standard, or whether it’s a mod.

A: i’m pretty sure it’s a mod i looked at a few b4 i bought my 07′ gt and never seen 1 with it or the option to get it, that’s what i wanted on mine, i’ve seen a couple of places to get it such as jcwhitney.com.

I used to see this list all the time, but for some reason I can’t find it. Does anyone know where I can find this list?

A: 0mph, to 200mph.

It’s a completely worthless question you asked.

You could put a 250 shot of nitrous into a stock car, and have it explode.

Or put it into a built mustang, and have it run a 10 sec 1/4 mile.

Without TONS of extra info, there’s no way to say.

It’s like asking how strong someone is, if they use steroids. There’s no set number, it depends on thousands of variables.

Q: Does BP & Salazar have anything to do with the propossed slaughter of over 75,000 wild mustangs?

Q: How different is my 1994 Thunderbird from the 90s mustangs?
It has a 4.6 V8, I know that the mustang had a 5.0 still in 94 but I have been wondering what all is differrent between the T-birds and the stags of the 90s. as far as weight, size, whatever else? For all I know, it could be the exact same interior and frame (besides the T-bird has 3 seats in back) and a different body of course. anyone know what I mean?

I’m looking at a 2000 Mustang with 146k on it. How high do these cars go up in mileage before they start to fall apart? Will this car last me a few years?

A: Depends on if the car was maintained or not, 146k is alot for a domestic car though. My roommate has a 2000 mustang with over 100k and the windows dont even seal anymore and the traction control stopped working.

Q: Do Ford Mustangs run well in the winter?
I might be getting a mustang but i live in MN so it gets very cold, snowy, and icy here, do Mustangs still do well?

A: Never had any problems with my Mustang, except when the snow was piled so high, no one but 4×4 could get through anyway.
If you have good snow tires, you should be OK.

Edit: seems to me lots of people below do not know how to handle a car in wintertime. I have 28 years experience driving RWD cars in Quebec’s winter, and if you know how to handle it, you’ll have no problem. Forward wheel drive are more forgiving for less experiences drivers because they understeer. In the hands of an experienced driver, the oversteering capacity of RWD means that you gain the possibility of modulating a turn with throttle. But the key word is *experienced*.

Q: Whats the deal with people dogging on Mustangs?
I have noticed an increasing number of questions about Mustang sucking and the like. I am just wondering if people like to stir the sh*t pot and get people fired up, and if they actually believe half the crap that spills out of their mouth about other car makes. I dont see Mustang owners talking bad about other people and their choice of cars, but boy some people just have a vendetta I guess. Whats you thoughts?

A: They are just mad at themselves for buying something else, when they could have bought a Stang. Since they can’t own one, they can only dog them. That way they feel close to the Stangs, since they missed their chance.

Wish I could afford a new Shelby, but retirement puts a strain on the income. Go for it while you can.

Q: Does anyone know what gauge floor pans are on early model Mustangs?
Want to change out my floor pans on a
‘66 Mustang, Need to know what type of welder would be suitable for this application. Considering a flux wire welder, or is the sheet metal to thin for this type of welder? I realy don’t want to mess around with gas welders, need a practical/compact welder to do the job. Any advice on this topic?

A: you need a MiG welder for this, stick welding will burn right through those,i think their 18 gage metal,but you never know when ordering replacements,i use a mig on all panels any way ,it does a lot better because it wont burn through,if you ever get a hole started burning through it gets harder to patch that area up,and over-lap them at least 1/2 inch this makes them a lot stronger,i did one last year,it was a night mare,because it was buckled in the middle from not having any support,it took some time to get it strait again,take your time with it though,and don’t try and run one solid weld,spot weld it at first,this will prevent it from drawing up on you,good luck on it.,,PS i went last year and bought a factory spot welder,and i still use my mig welder more than i use it,basically a spot welder is use less putting in panels,mig it in and it will be stronger.

Q: How much would it cost to have a 1998 ford mustangs front bumper replaced and installed.?
The bumper i have now is dented and needs replacement. Looking for a average cost estimate. Thanks.

A: Your bumper is dented? All the rustangs I have seen have rubber flexible bumpers. We call them rubber baby buggy bumpers.
