Q: Where should I take my 1995 Chevy Suburban to have wiring work done?
My parking light fuse keeps blowing and I’m pretty mechanically inclined, but I can’t find the problem. So, who should I take it to to get it fixed? Does it have to go to a dealer?
A: Find a shop with a “Short Finder” it is a tool which will send a pulse through the wire to the location of the short circuit. this pulse can be followed right to the location of the short by using a hand held sensor.
That circuit could take hours and hours to check by hand and the finder can do it in minutes – but the short must be present – that is to say if you put in a fuse with the lights on the fuse must blow immediately for the short finder to work. If the problem is intermittent I recommend that you purchase a plug in circuit breaker and replace the fuse with it, when the breaker starts cycling continuously then it is time to head for the shop.
Q: What audio setup with a 1999 chevy suburban?
I just recently finished upgrades of the exterior, and have been finally looking into upgrading my audio system. Im pretty knowledgeable about cars and whatnot, but have no experience with audio speakers, amps, decks, etc. Mainly what im looking for is some help or suggestions into what to look into. I dont want anything too too exspensive, but at the same time dont want anything cheap either, something that I will be happy with for a while.
Any suggestions, help, advice, or any personal experience or personal set-ups would be greatly appreciated.
A: if you want to bump good and not spend alot of money, check out Fi subwoofers.
their entry level is even much better than kicker L7’s. dont ask how i know.
i currently run some of their higher end subs with some custom made options and its insane on one of my vehicles.
on the daily, i only have one 18 inch btl.
for an amplifier, i would recommend you either a Bxi Hifonics series amplifier, or a XXV Hifonics amplifer.
they are very reliable and its the best bang for the buck you could ever find. ive also seen some of the cheap branded amps get smoked quick or dont last long.
any questions, hit me up.
Q: Does anyone remember the Chevy Suburban commercial that featured picabo street?
Everyone thinks that I am crazy but I swear it exists. It showed during the 1998 winter Olympic games I believe. Thanks!
Furthermore, does anyone know where I could find a copy of it online?
A: Yep. Couldn’t forget that. She’s from my state.
Q: i have a 2000 chevy suburban, the fuel pump kicks on and will start fine but when i get to driving the pump ki?
when i get to driving the pump kicks off and wont turn on for several minutes. when it quits on me i got out and had my fiance turn it over to accessory and the pump gave no noise.
A: Alot of times the terminals on the tank unit would burn or overheat. When you buy a new tank unit, you will have to replace the connector on the wiring harness. One reason is because they changed the connector on the tank unit and the other reason is because the terminals will be burnt. The bad news is most of the tank units are $400 and up.
Q: How do you replace a thermostat in a 1998 diesel Chevy Suburban?
It’s a 6.2 liter- I mostly need to know where the thermostat housing is located.
A: Why, it’s right there at the end of the upper radiator hose. The same place it is on just about everything.
The repair manual you already bought didn’t tell you this? I’d take it back. It has pages missing.
Q: 94 Chevy suburban when you drive or sit still and turn the wheel there is a lot of squeaky noise has fliuds?
The brakes are fine but I can’t afford to take into a shop for estimate right now what do you all think it may be? Thanks in advance.
A: Are you talking about front end squeaking? Check the balljoints and tie rod ends for grease.
Q: 2004 Chevy Suburban – How do you remove and then change the windshield wipers?
The blades don’t pull up away from the windshield as in other vehicles.
A: check out autozone.com they have a good help section
Q: What is the difference between the regular Chevy Suburban and the Z71?
Besides the obvious appearance of the SUV. Like suspension or what?
A: Z71 has a more powerful suspension….and definitely worth it….
Q: need to work on older chevy suburban?
im going to be workin on a 1984 chevy suburban, its going to be switched over to a propane engine after i get a few things done with it so what all should i replace as far as the engine goes? what things need to be done to make it like new again?
A: If you’re going to propane, make sure the heads and valves are in good shape, and the cooling system is perfect. The valves on propane motors last forever if they are in good shape to begin with, but if they’re carboned up or otherwise borderline, the propane system will cause you grief. Likewise the cooling system, especially if you live where it gets below freezing temps in the winter.
Q: where can I find a light-bar mount to fit a chevy suburban?
Suburban is a 1994 it has no gutter. this light-bar goes all the way across the roof of the vehicle, it is a fire truck light-bar.
A: Go to www.jcwhitney.com or www.galls.com
Galls is a web site for law enforcement/ firefighting supply including vehicle light bars sirens etc and jc whitney is a very good on auto parts and ACCESSORY site good luck

Q: 1985 Chevy Suburban diesel, mechanical or electronic speedometer?
Like the title says, I have a 1985 Chevy Suburban diesel (6.2L), and i’m wondering if the speedometer is classified as mechanical (i think it is) or electronic? I have to purchase a part, and it is relative as to which part i get. The trans is a 700r4 automatic. Thanks!
A: this is a mechanical (cable type) speedo the electric was not available on the suburban until 94′
Q: What is a normal oil pressure level for a 2002 Chevy Suburban?
My check engine oil light came on this week and when it did I noticed since then my pressure level drops to 40 when stopped and goes back up to 60 when driving. I had the oil changed, warning light is off but am still noticing the drop and rise with each start and stop. Is this normal (have I just never noticed the change before) or is it time to bring it to a mechanic? I have only ever noticed the gauge to always be in the 60 range.
A: your suburbans oil pressure is just fine that is with in the manufactures specs. as for the light comming on it was probb. the change oil soon light gm has what they call an oil life monitoring system and the vehicle will tell u when to change the oil just chek the owners manual they have alot of info in there
Q: I have a 1999 Chevy Suburban and whenever I have to slam on the brakes my left front one grabs, any ideas?
My mechanic says the brake pads are ok and the brakes work properly otherwise. The mechanic can’t seem to repeat the problem. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Rotor, brake line?
A: YOUR BRAKE CALIPER PISTON IS PITTED AND STICKING ON THE HOUSING.
YOU NEED A NEW CALIPER.
YOU CAN GET REBUILT ONES THAT HAVE NEW BRAKE PADS IN THEM FROM STORES SUCH AS NAPA OR KRAGEN.
Q: 1998 Chevy Suburban shakes when driving under 80 mph and smell fumes when you stop the car?
Replaced engine this last year. The car shakes until you get it up to 80 mph. When you get out of the car you can smell fuel fumes. I have been told it was a vacuum leak. Have already replaced the oxygen sensor.
A: It could be a dead cylinder. It would explain the shaking and the fuel smell. If there is a dead cylinder, raw fuel is going into the exhaust system which will definitely ruin an O2 sensor.
