I want one with leather interior and a monroof those are the only must haves!!!!!!!!! Also if any one has one please let me know how smooth the ride is. Thank you.

A: a reasonable price would be anything but the MSRP. go to www.adviceontime.com they have an awesome article on how to purchase and negotiate your car deal, you can buy it at invoice using the methods mentioned in the article.

Q: Anyone here drive the Brand New Chevy Tahoe??
Anyone here drive the Brand New Chevy Tahoe??

A: Test drove it and it is dramatically improved from last year’s model

Q: why want it crank? 1998 chevy tahoe new fuel pump, filter and fuel relay.Got fire at plugs and distributor.help
driving and it cut off.

A: You say it won’t crank or turn over? I have to assume if you have spark it is turning over but not starting. You need to check to make sure the injectors are pulsing. Hook up a test light to the injectors and crank the engine over to see if the are pulsing to get fuel to the engine. If not you could have a power or ground issue or if that is ok most likely an ignition module problem in the distributor…Good luck

Q: The new hybrid Tahoe – by chevy —?
Hi everybody in Environment –i am a newbie here — but i am a new friend with Permaculture byderule (sorry to namedrop — hehehe). I live where PG&E does not reach – so we make our own power with a generator and are in the process of solar and battery back up system.

We have a business – (one of a few) but our main one is my husband is a Landscape Architect and Contractor (Arcadian Gardens) — we try to bring environments – that self sustain, progress, and bring beauty and tranquility to each client, from small levels – to larger ones too. — so you can see why I wanted to learn from Pculture byderule –and his posse — so i am in here absorbing the wisdom. There is so much swirling in my mind right now – about our biz, how to leave our clients a little more environmentally wise, w/ a great landscape- while becoming a little more environmentally friendly – on any level – and i am excited!
Now that i got lost in all that – first ? – need a new car – any ideas re: chevy tahoe
WOW — dana, profess.prius, j-jungle — THANKYOU ! these answeres are great == Profressor- you have been MOST helpful -J-Jungle – i will be in touch – no doubt, first doing the homework there and digesting what Professor has suggested and the sites to use for my research — you guys in Environment are great — super smart and friendly — i gave thumbs up to all and Best answer to Professor — THANK YOU everybody!

A: Hi, big question with an involved answer. Get something nice and caffeinated and get comfy…

as Dana says, you need to evaluate what you want a vehicle to do. Sit down and draw a line down a sheet of paper. On the left write what you need your next vehicle to do, on the right, write what you want your vehicle to have. Put this sheet aside for a few days and then come back to it and reevaluate.

Then take a look at the types of vehicles that will fit what you need first, want second. That is the most economical and intelligent way to make an investment in a vehicle. You may decide a barebones truck fills your needs and promotes the environmental aspect of your company in the way you want your clients to think of you. After all, as you know, your appearance is sometimes just as important as what people don’t see. In that vein, you may decide a Chevy Tahoe is the best choice for what your customer base expects you to drive.

But that is not the best choice environmentally. With the dual mode partial hybrid system GM is using for the Tahoe, it theorectically will run on electric for part of the time and will deactivate four cylinders when the vehicle is not accelerating. It also can burn E85.

There are real, practical downsides to each of these that you should be aware of before you purchase a vehicle like this and then are dissapointed with the mileage it will get in the real world. I am not going to tell you not to buy the Tahoe, on the contrary, it may be the best choice for you. But you do need to know the limitations.

And the mileage for the standard Tahoe in 4X4 trim is 15 city and 21 highway. GM says the 25% gain for the hybrid trim is an approximation. The web site is http://www.chevrolet.com/hybrid/ if you’d like to see.

First, with a true, full hybrid, it can run using electric only power and the gas engine turns on and off as needed. This system works fine as long as you do not press the accelerator beyond a certain threshold or the vehicle does not need additional power beyond the electric threshold for accelerating up a hill, for example, or accelerating to keep up with traffic.

Second, with the cylinder deactivation systems available from multiple manufacturers, they are dependent on you not accelerating at all. In other words, the cylinders will shut off, but only when the vehicle is going down hill or on a perfectly level surface with a tailwind. These are the real world conditions that are needed for cylinders to not turn on to provide power for a two and a half ton vehicle to move forward. Honda has a cylinder deactiviation system on it’s minivan and in independent testing from Consumer Reports, they found the cylinder deactivation was used so little in real world driving, the Odyssey got one mile per gallon less than the Toyota Sienna, which does not use cylinder deactivation and essentially the same size engine.

As far as E85, an ethanol blend, goes, ethanol lowers your mileage because it does not contain the same energy density and energy potential as gasoline does. You will get lower mileage using E10 – E85 than you will using pure gasoline. Sometimes you are not able to get pure gas at all, or very easily, in your area so you may not have any choice. But if you can, do not put E85 in if you are trying to get the same miles per gallon, you will not.

Now, as far as what types of hybrid vehicles would be best for hauling at least six people, towing at least 3500 pounds, possess four wheel drive, give multiple levels of comfort features, have extensive safety features, and are rated the best in their class, that limits the field quite a bit.

The only vehicles of that type are the Toyota Highlander and the upcoming Chevy Tahoe/GMC Yukon. The Tahoe/Yukon are only available in a limited basis, so check GM’s websites.

The Ford/Mercury twins only hold five people, are not able to tow at least 3500 pounds, and do not have advanced safety systems like stability control. Ford’s website is http://www.fordvehicles.com/suvs/escapehybrid/

The Highlander currently tows 3500 pounds and that will likely go up to 5000 pounds with the hybrid due out next month (the standard new Highlander tows 5000), holds six people, has an intelligent fourwheel drive system incorporating traction control and stability control, side seat and side curtain airbags standard, and is rated a top pick by Consumer Reports. Toyota’s website is http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/2008/highlander/models.html

This is not meant as a sales job on Toyotas, I don’t sell them. But you should be aware of what is out there and get the specs on each vehicle to make sure it will do what you need and want it to do. Good luck with your choice.

Q: What is considered an AWESOME deal for a new 2008 Chevy Tahoe?
Okay,
I am interested in a new 2008 Chevy Tahoe LTZ 2WD. It is fully loaded (Navigation, DVD, the works)

The vehicle price is $50,000 but they are having a “Red tag sale” saying I pay only $40,000. Although this sounds pretty good…I just think it could go lower.
My question is: I hate buyers remorse….so, how much LOWER can I haggle??
What is the dirt cheapest I could offer and they’d go for it?
Does anyone know if this redtag sale is their bottom line?
People with car sales experience…Please help!!
10 points to best answer!!! :)

Thanks a bunch!
Mdcbert, I am not a sucker nor a fool. I need a bigger car for my expanding family and I’d rather drive a bitchen gas guzzler than a mini van.
The money I pay for in gas really isn’t an issue, and actually wasn’t even my question. But thanks for your useless answer.

A: The new red tag sale is supplier price which is 3% over invoice. Offer to pay invoice on the unit and ask to be shown the factory invoice. If they wont do that go else where. if I had one on my lot I would take invoice right now. The only 2 I have left one is a base unit and one is a lt3 without nav.

Q: What could cause a 1999 Chevy Tahoe with 75000 miles and new tires alignment and rebalance on tires to shimmy?
Loose worn or out of adjustment front wheel bearings . 2 shock absorbers and or suspension components worn or damaged . Bad tire Bent rim rotate tires and see if it changes. Wouldn t have been able to align if wheel bearings were loose. Balancer may be out of spec or technician may be out of spec could try another shop.

A: you did not mention having them balanced and also i have found that today more people do half @ss work than in recorded history

Q: Just purchased a new Chevy Tahoe 10′ in California and am thinking we got the shaft over sales tax?
My understanding was that you always pay the sales tax in the county in which you are going to be registering the vehicle in. I said this to the dealer and they all acted like they didn’t know how it worked. Their response was if you don’t pay California sales tax you don’t get to drive the car home and the only other way was to not pay any sales tax and have the car delivered to the Nevada border. Which would cost an arm and a leg. They also said that we would get the difference back when we went to register the vehicle. So like an idiot I said okay so long as we’ll get the money back who cares. Well after talking to the DMV they told me no you won’t get that money back from us. So I called the dealer back and told them of the situation and they said we told you maybe you’d get the money back. So I was pissed! Told them I was going to bring the vehicle back and we would buy somewhere else. Reno had already told me they would give me that same deal on one of their vehicles. Believe it or not they said they would take the vehicle back. The dealership in Reno also stated that we got screwed out of a Sales Tax Credit for our used trade-in. To make a long story short we got to Reno they told us we received a great deal that they wouldn’t be able to match. California says we can still keep the vehicle, but only after promising to give them a “Very Satisfied” on the survey (yeah right). But my question is did we get screwed. 1. What’s this Sales Tax Credit on our used trade-in. 2. Isn’t it the dealerships job to deliver the vehicle at no charge to the border. The only reason I ask that question is Reno was willing to find us the vehicle we wanted and they were willing to go get it. So technically we could have left California drove to Reno had them get the car and paid Nevada sales tax. Just for everyones info the dealership in California is in Dublin/Pleasaton. I don’t recommend buying from them or anywhere in California for that matter.

A: In California there is no credit for a trade in. If the car purchased is $30,000 and your trade in is $10000, tax is owed on $30,000. The rules on this vary from state to state.

It is not the dealerships job to deliver the vehicle at no charge in California. Many will do this for a fee(and tax would not apply in that case)

If ownership to the car passes in California, California tax is due even if the car is taken out of the state.

Q: I changed the windshield wiper motor in a 1998 Chevy Tahoe. The new one only works on high.?
and the wiper fluid won’t stop flowing. I don’t new if i should get one with pulse or delay. Thank you

A: On the front of the wiper transmission theres a module, which contains a circuit board with 2 relays, and a cam that rides the wiper motor and opens a switch every cycle. Remove the module and make sure the cam is properly placed (it should NOT be jammed on the pin, it needs to clear the pin), and make sure the ground tab (metal tab a screw goes through) doesn’t have any gasket material on it.

Q: i want a top custom shop to cut up and do some body work on a brand new 2007 chevy tahoe?

A: i own a shop, and you need to find an old school body shop that s good at cutting them down ,and re-doing them, some of the newer body shops are just not experienced with this stuff yet, there lucky if they can paint one right, but look for an old school shop they will be able to do it for you ,good luck with it hope this helps.

Q: 1995 chevy tahoe has new battery and alternator still dies?
also the battery gauge is reading wrong

A: you need to check the ground wires on it real good and also the connections ,that sounds like its not getting a good connection somewhere, they will read low if a ground wire is loose or corroded on them, good luck.

Q: Has anyone tried the new 2008 Chevy Tahoe?

A: Tried? I’ve driven several 2008 Escalades (Cadillac version of the Tahoe). If the Tahoe drives anything like the Escalade, It’s ok. The lower end isn’t all that great, you have to get it up to 2-3k rpms to get any power. The handling isn’t too great, you feel like your going to tip over when you take turns. Also, the thing is a pain to park.

All in all, not worth the money.

Q: New Tires for a 2005 Chevy Tahoe?
I am looking to input from Chevy Tahoe/GMC Yukon owners regarding tires. I have a 2005 Chevy Tahoe LT 4X4. I just purchased the vehicle about a month ago and I want to replace the tires before the winter weather hits.

What advice or suggestions for my Tahoe are best? I mainly drive the surface streets, I don’t tow anything and the most off-road I will be doing is a gravel road on occasion.

Thanks in advance to all that answer.

A: Sounds like a good set of all weather steel belted radials would do for you. A good tire replacement shop should be able to determine the best tires for your vehicle at a price you are willing to pay.

Q: In looking at the new ‘08 Chevy Tahoe, what is the difference among the LT1, LT2, and LT3, besides the price?

A: The difference is in the standard features and option. Somethings are optional on LT1 that are standard on LT2. LT3 usually has almost everything standard (very few option), where LT1 has very few things standard (far more options)
